Frequently asked questions

What is The Giraffe House?

The Giraffe House is a private residence housing a large collection of giraffe-themed art and memorabilia (one of the largest of its kind, though we can't say for sure!) located in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood of NE Portland, OR. The GH & LIsa Allen Lybrand Memorial Collection & Gallery

How do GH tours work?

When you arrive for your tour, enter the front gate and await your tour guide from the comfort of our shaded front porch, Someone will check you in shortly. After the tour, you're welcome to stay and linger in our garden, take photos, and/or enjoy a complimentary refreshment. (Or, consider adding on one of our Happy Hour packages).

Why do GH Tours cost so much?

Much goes into the operation and maintenance of the Giraffe House, plus we intentionally share a large percentage of our proceeds with charitable partnerships as part of our organization's mission. We do offer several different discounts and packages. And you may (hopefully, always) enjoy the Giraffe House by walking or driving by to check out our life-size scrap metal yard art, plaques, and "keep Portland Weird" vibes!

Do you offer refunds?

You can reschedule or cancel/refund any tour for any reason up to 3 days before your scheduled tour (contact tours@thegiraffehouse.org if there's an issue), after which a small transaction fee applies (or receive a tour voucher/credit for future use). However, we always want you to be delighted and would be appreciative of all feedback on your experience. Please fill out our CUSTOMER FEEDBACK FORM for any reason whatsoever. See our terms and policies for more info.
